I am confused by this statement: "I firmly believe that this shift in how and where we provide diabetes care is critical if we are to halt the spread of diabetes." For those of us with Type I, a non-contagious illness brought on by an autoimmune attack which we were powerless to stop, there seems to be no halting the "spread" of this disease as yet. Perhaps the statement should have read "...if we are to halt the spread of diabetes complications."
