Hello all, I am a 32 year old woman who is deeply in love with a man who has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last fall. He was extreamly thirsty all the time and loosing weight rapidly. My grandmother had it, so these signs were farmiliar to me. That being said he got bloodwork and was diagnosed with type 1. The doctor stated the disease was always in his system but a virus must have made it finally rear it’s head in his adult life. So here we are almost a year later and he is very lacadasical on taking his insulin and watching his diet. We live together and I’ve tried everything from packing healthy lunches, to making good dinners, to pleading, crying, giving altimatums, to even putting his son as an example. And still he lacks the want to take care of himself. He is insulin dependant and takes it whenever he feels he needs it. He has checked his sugar in front of me and it’s been in the 600′s, I’m surprised he hasn’t had a coma or diabetic shock yet. So now with my constant hounding(which is only because I love him and want him around a long time with no health complications later in life),I am becoming to him a pain in the a**, a nag, a bi***. I’m so upset, sad and feel hopeless. I need help and support because I’m at my wits end! I can’t just continue to sit back and watch this man loose weight weekely and fail and do nothing about it, but everything I have tried is not working. Please help me!
