Laughing, with Needles

Gg_with_crown So the folks over at dLife.com finally got around to posting my feature article on Laura Menninger, aka the “Glucose Goddess” — funny lady with diabetes extraordinaire.  Again, they placed the article in an incredibly difficult spot to find, with a long, unwieldy URL that you would never remember.  (So use the link above instead).

And here’s the photo that should have accompanied the article, rather than that boring headshot of me.  What were they thinking?! (I’m checking into it.)

Anyway, note that “Laura offers rare comic relief to what is otherwise a very serious disease,” according to John DeLuca, a leading psychologist at the Colorado Center for Biobehavioral Health in Boulder, CO.  “Her humor offers space for a shift in consciousness, for those with diabetes to focus on possibilities rather than limitations.”

So is she an angel of mirth in an otherwise barren wasteland of disease frustration?  Or is she just a bona fide Crazy Lady?  Read the article to decide for yourself.

  1. VERY important message about the value oflaughter! And i am really happy that DLife is out there, but as you mention, it is incredibly difficult to find stuff on the site. I have spoken with them about this and they say they too had recognized my point and would try and improve things. Living in Belgium, I cannot see the TV program so it is really important that the web site is well organized.

  2. The Glucose Goddess is both an “angel of mirth” and a “crazy lady”. Three cheers for both of them. May her reign continue to be inspiring!

  3. Amy – I emailed you a note re: this. Haven’t heard back. Perhaps you didn’t get it?
