In case you’re already a little disgusted with my generally cheery attitude about diabetes, please don’t gag. This is for a very good cause: Children with Diabetes (CWD). And my 8yr-old actually sewed on the buttons for me. In fact, she and I did a Happy Dance when it was finally complete, because this very little bit of sewing (I outsourced the actual patchwork) took me over 8 months to complete. That would be about 7 months of procrastinating, two weeks of looking for a decent seamstress, and two weeks of diddling with the iron-on’s and the buttons.
But now it’s done! Just in time to be included in the big shindig display-on-the-mall in Washington, DC, during the upcoming ADA Conference in mid-June, when CWD will exhibit hundreds (thousands?) of these mini-quilts to call attention to the cause. After dragging my feet for so long, I promised Jeff Hitchcock of CWD that I’d get my Quilty there if I had to march it up to the Capitol myself. And I just might

So, were you able to test your blood glucose without a lancet device during the implementation phase?
Amy, please let me know if you’ll be in D.C. that weekend, as I have been chosen as one of the New York representatives for the ADA “Call to Congress” which is taking place from June 7-9, 2006 in Washington.
