Kerri Morrone of SixUntilMe and I have tied for the title of “Best Diabetes Blog” in the First Annual OC Awards announced last night. Thank you all!
(Apologies that I dropped out of the awards ceremony early on; my Internet connection was acting up, while I had a house full of hungry guests and screaming kids…)
Anyway, kudos to the poetic Kerri for sweeping the awards, also winning the titles of “Best Adult with Type 1 Blog,” “Best Female Blogger,” and “Most Inspiring Blogger,” along with the honors for “Best Post” for her touching piece called “She Still Smiles.” Wow, Kerri, you blow our minds! (and you’ve apparently got a lot of D-friends who cared to vote 
— another reason to envy you)
Kerri writes beautifully about what it felt like to grow up diabetic (plus what her mom endured), our daily frustrations, and how her boyfriend makes her feel beautiful. As I remarked on Scott’s blog lately, my partner is my best friend and my hero, but I’m simply not as lyrical in sharing these intimacies. I’ve got the heart of a journalist after all, and we all have to follow our hearts.
Thanks, Amy. And congratulations to you, too. It’s an honor to share this with you. Between your cutting edge journalism and my emotional deluges, the blending of our blogs is pretty darn good.
