Diabetes Quizzing

So ya think that just because you take your meds and count your carbs and visit your endo that you know something, do ya? Well now, I’ve discovered there are plenty of online quizzes to put thatD_quiz theory to the test.

Start at the Online Quiz Center. I tried my hand at diabetic neuropathy, and discovered that the cause for this “family of nerve disorders” is “unknown.” Hmmph.

On the lighter side, try the Accu-Check Diabetes - IQ Fun Quiz, which includes “How was diabetes diagnosed in 250 AD?” (Hint: it’s not the horseback riding). Also, don’t miss question No.11 (!)

Novo Nordisk’s Quiz, on the other hand, consists of 567 questions! (one of which should have been: “What were they thinking?”) And they even keep track of the top scorers — assuming there must be some ego involved in making it through the whole thing. Nope, I didn’t.

Moving on, you can test your Diabetes Nutrition IQ at the UPMC Health Journal. I was surprised how little I knew about fats and calories. Ah, the bliss of ignorance…

Except when it comes to testing your smarts about the all-important A1c test from Voice of the Diabetic.

And this one from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists might just be the ultimate place to send the know-nothings who make all those aggravating uninformed remarks about your diabetes. Answers are provided :)

But, drumroll please… I found The Diabetes Quiz — from a guy named Jacob Richman who is “not a doctor” — to be best of all! He’s managed to put together a straightforward, fun and informative little test in 5 topic categories, complete with wacky sound effects and a database of answers. Thanks, Jacob, for once again confirming that the best “everyday” health smarts don’t always come from doctors after all.

  1. Hi,
You have done an amazing job with your blog! I was diagnosed with Type 2 in July, but now they are saying I could be a mild Type 1. Not to sure what that means, but have an appt. with the Endo next week for more fun Pancreas tests! Like you, I followed a foreigner over to Europe as well. Happily married to the tallest and handsomest norwegian viking you have ever seen!!! Thanks for your efforts for the Diabetes community! You inspire me to be a better blogger! (I put the link to my blog in the URL box!)
