Multiplying Like Rabbits, Continued

New diabetes blogs continue to pop up like weeds! Here are three new ones with a twist:

* MarathonSwimmer – from a 30-year-old Type 1 diabetic (for 17 years) who is training to swim the English Channel.

* Sam Woodfin’s Diabetes Notebook – a Type 2 diabetic and Creative Type whose blog pages include baseball, haiku, art, and Mac stuff, along with the diabetes section.

* Challenge Diabetes, a brand new blog from Kevin McMahon, founder of the company Diabetech, makers of the GlucoMON monitoring system, based in Dallas, TX. He emails me: “Your blog spurred me to take the plunge!” Wow, I’m honored! And a very informative clinical blog you’ve started there, Kevin.

Also, two other new D-blogs of note are The Beautiful Diabetic by a new Type 2 in Oslo, Norway, and I’m Dying (catchy title) by a panicked diabetic who calls herself “Saint Martha.” (Kerri of SixUntilMe kindly notes that Martha could use a little warm outreach from our community. Amen.)

But these latter two blogs actually belong to the Frustrating Blogger Site category as far as I’m concerned — a series of new blogs that: 1) do not list an email address, making it impossible to get in touch with the author, and 2) accept comments only from registered users of Google’s proprietary Blogger software. Aaargh! Please open up your comments, people! Otherwise we can’t offer our support. Thanks… and welcome to the blogosphere.

“Creative Type”? Why do I hear “dirty hippy” when I read that? ;)

I don’t know if that multiplication is bad (because there are more of us with the condition) or good (because more of us write about it).

Either way, I appreciate the blurb.

Sam: Not dirty at all. I’m a closet hippy myself, of sorts. Thanks!

I would love it if you would include my diabetes blog in your next list of new blogs! My blog is called Sweet as Candice: My life with type 1 diabetes. The website is: I hope you like it!
