    Funny & true story. Since this seems to be the humor column, I’ll post here. At a recent hospital-sponsored diabetes support group, the topic was “Importance Of Blood Sugar Testing”. The nurses arranged for two guest speakers – representatives of competing manufacturers of testing supplies. The first speaker, I forget his name but its not important to the story, represented Abbott Laboratories. The second speaker, representing Roche Diagnostics, was John Costello. Nobody, not even the nurses, realized we had Abbott & Costello speaking that night!

    Thanks for that, Terry. Funny! Here’s another one: when I first started testing my BG, my then-4yr-old would come up with big eyes and say, “Let me see that boo-boo.” And then, “I don’t like that boo-boo!” She said it so often, it became a family joke: “Cover your eyes! Here comes mommy’s boo-boo!”

    Hello Amy:

    I am currently conducting a study on coping strategies of wives of Type I diabetics and how their coping relates to marital adjustment. Just wondering if I can post information about my study.

    There is a dearth of psychosocial research in the area of spousal coping and diabetes and I am hoping to contribute to the knowledge base in this area.

    Thanks in advance.

    As my son is now getting to the point (4 years of age) of enjoying Dr. Seuss’s books, I loved to find this post.

    Great site! I’d like to add my two sites to yours to give additional information. The first is http://www.shirleymedical.org and the other is http://nravey.mydiabeteseducator.org.

    I hope that the information contained in each is healpful to others out there.

    I will write more later, but would like to put your Dr. Suess poem on my websites and hope that is ok with you (I will give you credit of course and refer back to your site.

    Thanks,

    Amy, I just found your Blog! What a pleasure! What is also cool is that I am a HUGE fan of anything even remotely related to Dr. Seuss. I have 5 children, all of which have been inundated with Dr. Seuss but none of which have Diabetes.
    In closing:

    Reading the Dr. Seuss entry in Amy’s Blog,
    Made me jump higher than a Frog;
    People like Amy are such a delight,
    Reading her blog entries is always fun – either by day or night;
    So now I will end this little entry of mine,
    Because I have to go check my sugar and make sure it is fine!

    - Thank you and keep monitoring the Blood Glucose readings!

    All (necessary) humor aside, I tell folks I have two choices: I can live WITH it, or I can die FROM it. I’d much rather the former, THANK you!
